RTP Leadership on a Box #2
Posted on 9th December 2024 at 14:57
On Thursday 21st November, we were delighted to host our second "Leadership on a Box" event at at TAP Brewery Milton Keynes.
Once again, we were joined by a wonderful group of guests, who came along to share and to hear fascinating Leadership stories from like-minded individuals. From inspiring, life changing leadership moments to accounts of amazing or conversely toxic cultures, we listened to what our speakers had to say.
With stories presented in a relaxed, open-mic night environment, and our presenters literally standing "on a box", we heard from a selection of speakers including:
Freddie Guilmard, CEO, RTP
Martin Lewis-Stevenson, Director, Pulse Group Media
Wayne Clarke, Founder Partner, The Global Growth Institute
Martin Goodwill, CEO, Great People Inside
Alan Valentine, Agile Coach, Easyjet
Thank you so much to Martin Lewis-Stevenson for his inspiring intro and for supporting the event.
A huge thank you to our keynote speaker Wayne Clarke for making time to be with us and sharing some of his leadership stories from across the globe.
Our The Red Thread Fellowship partner Martin Goodwill and his insight on how some leaders don’t listen even when faced with 360 direct feedback!
And to Alan Valentine for his very energetic and humorous talk on his journey to management.
Thank you also to Jonathan Nunn, Asmita Sharma and Katie Newman for signing up on the night and sharing truly inspirational stories of their personal leadership journeys.
With drinks and pizza supplied, our guests enjoyed a relaxed and informal evening, learning and laughing about our leadership journeys together.
Thanks to Datis Gol and his team for looking after us so well and thank you to all our guests for attending our second event.
This event was dedicated to a colleague and dear friend, RIP Alan Cherrington CEng who lost his short battle to cancer recently. Through the generosity of everyone on the night, we were able to raise over £300 for Cancer Research UK (CRUK).
And following some more amazing feedback, we are now keen to arrange our Leadership on a Box #3 event in 2025.
Our next event will be in March, so do watch this space! We will be sending invitations and publishing further details on Eventrbrite for those who are interested in attending. In the meantime, for any questions do get in touch with us at admin@the-redthread.co.uk.

Here is what some of our wonderful guests had to say after the event:
Well, what an incredible week it has been. Freddie Guilmard CEO of THE RED THREAD PARTNERSHIP LIMITED, hosted the second 'Leadership on a Box' event on Thursday night at Bucks Star in Milton Keynes.
This unique event offers the opportunity for business leaders and rising stars to share stories to inspire or forewarn others of leadership and business successes and failures. This was all done at an incredible venue, which I suggest you should visit if you haven't already done so.
Sharing stories of opportunity, failure, and success. Confirming that as a leader, you must be in touch with your team and pull them, not push them towards the goal. In the words of Freddie, always ask your team, 'How are you'? when they say fine, okay, good. Ask again, 'No, really, how are YOU'? Take the time to find out how your team really are.
Martin Lewis-Stevenson,
Director of Pulse Media Group
The one and only Freddie Guilmard, strutting his stuff at the second 'Leadership on a Box' event, hosted by THE RED THREAD PARTNERSHIP LIMITED at Bucks Star in Milton Keynes.
Great event, great presentations and great company.
Martin Goodwill, CEO Great People Inside
Yes that’s me standing on a box and it’s not because I’m short and couldn’t reach the microphone 😂
Yesterday I was a speaker for Freddie Guilmard’s event ‘leadership on a box’ and it was a great evening filled with really lovely people.
I spoke about two incredible leaders I’ve had in my career Karen Bhangal & Parm Bhangal and proud moments I’ve personally experienced.
It was really refreshing to hear leadership stories from others (the good, the bad, and the ugly), and what being a leader means to them.

I would highly recommend this event to everyone irrespective of the industry they work in and how much experience they have.
Leadership on a box is an event I didn’t think I needed until I was a part of it, and I highly recommend it to everyone now. It was refreshing to hear from the experiences of other fellow participants and gain valuable insights from their diverse backgrounds. The event fostered a sense of community and collaboration, allowing us to share our challenges and wins in an open and supportive environment. Each story offered a unique perspective on leadership, inspiring us to think outside the box and approach problems with creativity and empathy. The event really helped me broaden my understanding of leadership.
